Each year at the annual Pride & Passion event, Greater Boston PFLAG awards scholarship money to high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership in improving their school’s climate for LGBT youth.
Greater Boston PFLAG’s Elsie Frank Scholarship honors the late mother of Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank. Mrs. Frank was a member of Greater Boston PFLAG’s Honorary Board and a lifelong advocate for the rights of marginalized people.
Applicants must be planning to enroll in a 2 or 4 year college or technical/vocational school in the next academic year. Awards are not based on grades or financial situation. All students are welcome to apply: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, or straight. People of color and trans youth are encouraged to apply.
Applications for Scholarships to be awarded for 2017 are now being accepted. All applications are due on February 17, 2017.
