There are many ways to get involved in Greater Boston PFLAG!

  • Join one of our Chapter Meeting Groups (see list under Support Groups).
  • Join us in Youth Pride in Boston May 12, 2007. Help us support LGBTQ youth and their allies. Check for details
  • March with us in Boston Pride, in June. It's the thrill of a lifetime! Check for date
  • Attend one of our fabulous fundraising events!
  • Join one of our committees listed below.
  • Volunteer for office help and/or mailings.

Greater Boston PFLAG Committees


Nominating Committee -- Insures the continued health of the organization by:
  • Recruiting new board members to achieve an appropriate balance according to race, age, sexual orientation, gender, economic status and any other trait deemed by the committee or the board to be important.
Development Committee -- Raises funds to support the Safe Schools and Communities Project by:
  • Organizing fundraisers such as our annual Pride and Passion Party and Pledge Hike.
  • Planning, publicizing and implementing all fundraising efforts
Safe Schools Committee -- Works to create safe, welcoming and inclusive schools for all students by:
  • Managing the Greater Boston PFLAG Elsie Frank Scholarship Program
  • Supporting the Greater Boston PFLAG Safe Schools Program
Communications Committee -- Insures that the membership and the general public are aware of Greater Boston PFLAG by:
  • Publicizing chapter meetings.
  • Managing the newsletter.
  • Managing the helpline.
  • Informing other PFLAG members of events and encouraging their attendance.
  • Publicizing the existence of Greater Boston PFLAG in general.
  • Maintaining information on the Greater Boston PFLAG website.
Outreach Committee -- Ensures that Greater Boston PFLAG meets the needs of its chapters and of people not currently being served by the organization by:
  • Increasing PFLAG's membership and volunteer base with an emphasis on increasing diversity.
  • Surveying chapter leaders and members to find out what kind of support is helpful.
  • Tracking attendance at chapter meetings.
  • Creating, and implementing, a plan to make chapters stronger and increase attendance.
  • Working to make GB-PLAG support chapters welcoming and comfortable to people not currently served.
  • Outreach to mental health organizations and social service organizations.
