The impact of GB- PFLAG’s Safe Schools & Communities Project can best be described by comments from participants in our trainings:

"Excellent workshop! Those who attended are still talking about it and how 'simple' it is to do something to eradicate the negative comments and feelings surrounding gay youth! We want you back in the fall for an in-service workshop that lasts for an entire morning!" HS Teacher

"This school desperately needed a session like this one." Western MA HS teacher "What I learned today made me think. I had heard people tell me this stuff before, but today it touched me more…. I feel that I’ll use what I learned today. I’ll remember it. I’ll change some of the things I do." HS Student, Peer Leaders Conference

"I was unaware how seemingly subtle, undirected comments can radically affect someone’s life." HS Student

"I feel like I said some bad stuff and I didn’t care what anyone else’s feelings were. I will not say any bad words to gays and homosexuals." 7th grader

"I will encourage the start of a GSA group at school and work on teacher training/awareness." Principal

Questions:

"Our rabbi is mostly supportive, but she won't perform our marriage ceremony. Do we need to find another synagogue?"
