Deb is Chair Emeritus of Greater Boston PFLAG, and currently serves as Chair of Board Affairs. She is also a speaker, a support group facilitator, and an advocate for transgender rights. Prior to this she worked as the Executive Director of the ELNA Collaborative, working with Massachusetts middle and high school students to promote leadership skills, social activism and civic responsibility. She also volunteered as an Educational Surrogate Parent. Deborah served for 12 years as an Elected Member and Chair of the Shrewsbury School Committee, 19 years as an Elected Town Meeting Representative, a Trustee of the Worcester Center for Crafts, Chair of the Shrewsbury Democratic Town Committee, President of the Shrewsbury League of Women Voters, Treasurer Friends of the Shrewsbury Library. She has also managed numerous political campaigns. Deborah has received the Eleanor Roosevelt Humanitarian Award and Massachusetts Community Unsung Heroine Award. She holds a BFA from Washington University. Deborah’s other identities include artist, writer, beekeeper and knitter. She and her husband, Ron, have three adult children and live in Cambridge.
